*112 PROJECT by MARTA BOGDAŃSKA & KAROLINA SOBEL
We want to call an emergency number. It is COVID-19 pandemic time; we need assistance, support, solidarity. Can we count on our governments? To a limited degree, it seems. Most countries are not dealing well with the situation when it comes to official coordination and support. Health care is on its last legs in many places including Poland. We want to take this global emergency number as the title for our project and turn it upside down. It is the grassroots, bottom-up initiatives, individuals, small and bigger groups, and NGOs that are on the forefront of gathering funds, support, medical equipment, food, and protective gear. Nevertheless people are forming rapid connections based on a common aim, a common need. Physical isolation does not stop the streams of social connections that run through like ever flowing electricity. Other hot spots, transmitters, networks function within our communities and build up on fuel of fellowship, compassion, love, and empathy. In them the power to act and help grows to give us flourishing abundance of aid, which we are witnessing during pandemic around the world. It is the common people, everyone really, that stand up to the task now and supply hospitals with needed food, invent, try out and create protective masks, suits and helmets, run errands and go shopping for elders, take care of your dog if you are on quarantine.
